In this case, the markings are not clear enough. I borrowed the entry in the prior owner's receipt for this item, which is "1802 shell vinaigrette". I also found Matthew Linwood made a shell vinaigrette very close to this one, thus the attribution.
This vinaigrette is in a finely crafted oyster shell shape. The grille features pierced floral pattern. It comes with a piece of sponge. The box hinge and grille hinge both work fine. The box opens and closes properly. One or two light dents. Light scratches on the surface. There is light sign of usage underneath the grille.
This vinaigrette came from a large collection of antique vinaigrettes and nutmeg graters I found in a local estate sale. The owner kindly presented prior receipts, from which I learnt that the collection was acquired from various jewelers and antique dealers in the last 25 years.
