    Description

Presented is an attractive little English Georgian sterling silver vinaigrette
or scent box. This piece was made by Edwin Jones of Birmingham and dates to
1833. One side of the vinaigrette is beautifully hand engraved with a scrollwork
design, surrounding an oval cartouche with the monogram EFC in flowing script.
The opposing side is engraved with a quatrefoil design inside a wavy border. The
interior of the box has a pierced grill, engraved with foliate decoration. Both
the interior and the grill have a gold wash.
The box is in great condition. The hinge of the lid is in great shape, and
the lid shuts nicely. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and
    no repairs.
The interior of the box is stamped with the anchor for the city of
Birmingham, the maker's mark EJ for Edwin Jones, and the date letter k for 1833.
The interior of the lid is stamped with King George IV's head duty mark, the
maker's mark EJ for Edwin Jones and the lion passant for sterling silver.
The box measures approximately 1 1/4 by 5/8 by 3/8 of an inch, LxWxH,
including the loop at the top of the box.
    This piece weighs 7.1 grams.
