    Hello -
    Up for auction is a circa 1830 heirloom Sterling Silver Vinaigrette Box by John Bettridge of British, Birmingham.  Original family owned, brought over from Belgium during the Cold War. Measures: 1 1/2" x 1" x 3/8" and weighs 22.63 grams. Both hinges are in perfect working order.
    This box has two hallmark stamps. The inner lid shows: Sovereign Head (duty mark) facing right, I B (for John Bettridge) and Lion Passant (Sterling Silver). The bottom inner lid shows: an Anchor (Town mark, Birmingham), I B (John Bettridge) and Letter "L" dating 1834.
