RARE VINTAGE ~ HORIKAWA Changing Robot Fighter Plane 1980s B/O Toy Transformer

This rare and vintage Horikawa Changing Robot Fighter Plane is complete with original box and styrofoam insert and unused decals in mint clean condition as seen in photos. I’m not a collector, but in 2004 I inherited a toy collection from a very meticulous collector. According to his records, this rare toy is from the 1980's.  I just took it out of the box to make sure it’s all there and test it, other than that, it's been stored indoors and untouched. Toy requires 2 AA batteries (not included). From what I've gathered, this toy's battery operated  function is to walk forward in the robot mode and to roll forward in the plane mode with the back sides of the plane moving up and down. The robot works properly, walking forward; however, the plane mode doesn't move forward, but does lift the back sides of the plane up and down, one side after the other. The changing  part is all manual in four stages as shown on the side of the box. Also photos 4-7 show these same stages. I think this toy may have been a precursor to the Transformer line that was so popular. Toy is made in Japan by Horikawa and has their signature SH logo on the box. Measures about 10.5” long in plane mode and is made of plastic. Battery compartment is clean.
Both toy and box are in very good condition.
